#1. Many of us stand to inherit a lot of junk.
A lot of people I talk to, both in and out of my own family, are worried about decluttering a lifetime of accumulations rather than passing that burden on to their children.
My own feeling is summed up in [this comment](
Cleaning up after your parents is a gift you give to them: look at it like them paying it forward for all the times they cleaned up after you as a child.
Iâd rather my parents enjoy their lives with as few burdens as possible.Â

#2. A real example of walk-up songs as performance cues.

I did my post-doc in a lab dedicated to athlete wellness, and most of my grad students were student-athletes. They taught me many things, but the best was the importance of a walk-up song. One softball player made us all pick one. She made a list. And when she wasnât too busy, she would play it when one of us walked into our office. It always made me feel great. When I walked in to defend my dissertation, some students were there and I heard my song just as I opened the door: DJ Khaledâs [All I do is win](

#3. Mastering details makes harder concepts easier.

I like what you said about mastery being about craft first. During my undergrad in music composition, our prof made us handwrite pages of clefs and various notes so that we would have them embedded in our muscle memory for easy access when composing. Those of us who followed his assignment had a much easier time as our degree progressed. Even the most basic craft creates ease so your creativity can flow.
