My friend [Nick Gray]( has the first chapter of his new book up: [The 2-Hour Cocktail Party](. I’ve been to two of his parties and I can confirm he has the format dialed down. I had a great time, met some people, and still talk to some of them. Definitely recommend this, especially for anyone who is a networker. Instead of going to random bars or meet-ups to try to create new connections, I decided to go a different route. Instead of going to other people’s parties, I decided to bring the party to me. - - - - - #2. Subscribing to human curators. We all need help finding signals in the noise. I’m increasingly frustrated with algorithmic curation because all the algorithms seem optimized for immediate signal, i.e. did I click on something? I wish they were instead optimized for did my life get better? But that signal isn’t available for days or sometimes even years. That’s why I’ve come to be a believer in human curators. I want someone smart to pick out the most important signal and give me some context for understanding it. This newsletter is that — I have a worldview and use it to frame the information I send you. That’s all a long lead to this interesting Twitter thread that starts to list out some of the [good human curators out there]( - - - - - #3. (Maybe) don’t have knee surgery. I’m not in any way clear on how to give guidance here. But I see over and over again credible sources talking about alternatives to knee surgery. In some cases, physical therapy is leading to better outcomes than arthroscopic surgery. [Here’s one recent summary of the literature](. What I’d like you to take away from this is that if you end up with a knee injury in the future, take some time to research alternatives to surgery. - - - - - Tips or feedback?
