You wouldn’t be moving. You might look like you’re sleeping, but there’s nothing that’s happening in your brain that mimics sleeping or the restorative nature of sleeping.” Peter Attia [on the difference]( between alcohol helping you lose consciousness versus helping you sleep. I’m more prone to muscle strains when I feel this way. I’d plucked this quote below during research on gut microbiome. If you can first be sensitive to levels of inflammation, then you can start experimenting with what lowers it. Additionally, some participants in the high-fiber group showed a reduction in markers of inflammation. Plant-based, high-fiber foods (i.e., vegetables, legumes, and whole grains) offer significant benefits for overall health and can help provide key nutrients for established microbiota. One of the first lessons I learned as a manager was how to read resistance. A lot of resistance reads on the surface as criticism but is actually more likely to be an issue of knowledge. For example: Enrolling your team [in a goal] requires more finesse. What often comes across as nitpicking and doubt around goals is actually people’s fear at being held accountable for goals that they don’t know if they can achieve. I’d never considered the role of play in finding your purpose. But now that I have, it seems obvious. How else are you supposed to develop the skill of learning what feels right? Dr. George Sheehan, a cardiologist who wrote 1978’s [Running & Being,]( explained it this way: “In play, you realize simultaneously the supreme importance and utter insignificance of what you are doing. And accept the paradox of pursuing what is at once essential and inconsequential. Play, then, is the answer to the puzzle of our existence. The stage for our excesses and exuberances…” Source: [Running as a (playful) discipline]( - - - - - Discord discussion topic: how did you learn to feel your feelings? There are a lot of reasons to be good at feeling your feelings. The one that prompted it for me was thinking through how to teach anti-procrastination techniques. A lot of them rely on you being able to notice your feelings. But for most of us, that’s a learned skill. [Let’s talk about it in Discord](. - - - - - Tips or feedback?
