Hype Yourself Up with Quotes from the King of GritListening to David Goggins is like having a pers

Hype Yourself Up with Quotes from the King of GritListening to David Goggins is like having a persona [Coach Tony]( Coach Tony [@tonystubblebine]( Hype Yourself Up with Quotes from the King of Grit Listening to [David Goggins]( is like having a personal drill sergeant. If you like someone yelling at and cursing at you, you’ll love him. (I love him in small doses). There are lots of people who have collected his best quotes, but [this collection is the best because it also gives you the context behind the quote.]( — The Academic Research on Grit The research looks light to me because it’s relatively new, focused on children and education, easily confused by other concepts like self-control and stress. For example, is a person low on grit or just extremely overwhelmed by anxiety? That said, if you want to follow along with the academic side, a good starting place is to [test yourself on the Grit Scale](. My opinion, after having run into a lot of skeptical responses to this kind of test, is that this is the kind of psychological test that’s best used just to make comparisons between yourself at different moments in time. The scale was developed by [Angela Duckworth, Professor at UPenn](. [See also her TED talk](. — An Easy Exercise to Train Grit I advise people to start by making their life as easy as possible, i.e. your first strategy shouldn’t be dependent on grit. Use every life hack you can find to make your life easy. But no matter how much you try to hack life, you still need to persevere through challenges. The simple exercise I’ve given clients is to keep a tally of each time you persevered during a day. Be generous in your credit. Any time you feel headed in the “wrong” direction and you pull yourself in the “right” direction through force of will, credit yourself with one “grit.” For example, if you sit down to work, think about checking TikTok, but decide to work instead: credit yourself with a Grit. Most people will tally 5–10 in a day if they are paying attention and being generous with themselves. Once you are measuring grit you can challenge yourself to build up your numbers. Clients who used this had also been through a lot of mindfulness work. That’s probably a bit of a prerequisite since tracking grits does rely on self-awareness. — Question for You Who is a famous person that you admire for their grit? Why? The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
