“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to [Coach Tony]( Coach Tony [@tonystubblebine]( “Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” ~ John Lubbock — ⛱️ Leo from [Zen Habits]( on [The Practice of Truly Enjoying Time Off](. It wasn’t easy to take this month off. I had to make arrangements, sell it to my team and clients, get a bunch of work and content done ahead of time, and really stand my ground when people asked for my time. — 🏰 [A Surprising Abdominal Move — and Four Ways to Level It Up]( from [Anna Maltby](. I’m a believer, if not always a practitioner, that power comes from your core. The thing that locked in my belief was seeing how much [Lebron James focuses on ab work](. I’m inspired that it’s important to one of the strongest and most resilient athletes of all time. – I’m not intending a relation between ab work and Leo’s vacation. Do both. – 💰 One of my failed ideas. The issue with taking a rest is that we know it’s important but don’t feel it’s important. This is a rider/elephant problem. Our rational rider is on board, but our emotional, culturally programmed elephant is not. So I’ve tried many times to create [a coaching reframe]( around “picking up the paycheck.” Rest is when our brain rewires itself, memories are formed, learnings are locked in. It’s when our muscles heal and grow back stronger. Rest is picking up the paycheck on all your hard work. Not resting is like going to a job and not getting paid. This idea rarely resonates, but if it resonated with you then I will be thrilled. Let me know. — 💪 How can I help you achieve your goals? - I run the original [positive reinforcement habit tracker iPhone app](. It’s free and it’ll help you build great new habits. - Get a coach.
