“My definition of being properly educated is being right when the professor is wrong.” ~ C

“My definition of being properly educated is being right when the professor is wrong.” ~ Charlie Mung [Coach Tony]( Coach Tony [@tonystubblebine]( “My definition of being properly educated is being right when the professor is wrong.” ~ Charlie Munger ([watch the full video]() — Related to the quote: [be non-consensus right](. — 🙋 What is the most helpful newsletter that you read? It could be any newsletter that helps you be a better, more successful person. Just respond to this issue, and I’ll share back out the best of them on Wednesday. — 👓 I only read two newsletters right now, and I want to read more. One is [Jason Shen](’s [Cultivating Resilience](. It’s very focused and useful. And the other newsletter is [Edith Zimmerman](’s [Drawing Links](. It’s not self-improvement, but it’s funny and insightful and inspires me to be better at noticing life. She’s also the first person who told me that newsletters are the future. — 👋 On Friday, I mentioned doing weekly online office hours. I’m confirming that I’ll be online today (Monday) at noon eastern time. Come with questions or topics that you want to talk about: ( — 📖 More [Jason Shen](. He wrote [the best explanation of deliberate practice I’ve ever read](. Success is working hard and smart at the same time. Nobody gets this as well as he does. — 📖 I spend a lot of my time optimizing for flow states and that’s the lens I used to read [Kaki Okumura](’s [The Japanese Art of Making Boring Tasks Better](. Getting into a flow state involves creative modulation of challenge and skill. This article is a good example of how to modulate a boring task upward into a flow state. — 💪💪💪 Day six of a twenty-day sequence to break a bad habit. 💪💪💪 I’m ending each of these issues with a sequence of exercises you can do to explore your own potential. My view on life is that self-improvement is a year-round never ending journey simply because it’s so interesting and rewarding. There’s nothing “wrong” with you, and yet there’s never an end to the ways in which we can level up. This sequence of exercises starts with [picking a habit to break]( and then [picking a replacement habit](. Today’s exercise is to adopt a When/Then Mindset in order to make your goals anti-fragile. In breaking your habit, how many Cue’s have you identified and planned replacement habits for? I’ve done three for my “stop taking my phone to bed” goal. But I’m sure I’ll discover more through failure. The solution to those failures comes from the world of anti-fragility. Most systems weaken under stress. For example, most people who fail get demoralized. But an anti-fragile system gets stronger under stress. So instead of a failure on a goal leading to giving up, there is a mindset that turns a failure into something that makes you stronger. We call it the When/Then mindset. When you fail, notice the trigger for that failure and then design a replacement habit. My notes app is filled with When/Then lists for my goals. Each item looks like this: When , Then I will . So now when I fail, I have a response that automatically makes me stronger. You can do the same thing. That’s anti-fragility. How many When/Then’s have you identified so far? Do you have any to add today?
