In reality, however, many people opt for 18 unhappy and unproductive hours...because they aren't willing to do what it takes to get proper sleep. The science is very clear: sleep is incredibly important. Staying awake longer to wring out the most of a day backfires on you. But believe me, I know: it's not so easy to get a good night's sleep. There are lots of reasons why you don't go to bed on time, or you stay awake reading on your phone or watching TV, or you indulge in habits that have your body or brain zinging with energy at the wrong time.
