Do you meditate?

How Meditation Made Me Strong
I always liked pushing into new ground and being a leader. In my first jobs in the software business, though, I ran into frustration quite often. Iâd find myself in situations where I knew I was right. But itâs not enough to just be rightâ¦you have to convince other people that youâre right.
And I had a tendency to doubt myself and back down. I was "out-alphaed" by some of the people I worked with...I couldn't even look them in the eye! This gave me no confidenceâand hence no powerâin those situations.
When I first tried to raise money to build the company, dozens of investors turned me down. What they told me was that I was too âsoftââthat I wasnât CEO material.
It was crushing. I feared that might mean that I would have to become some kind of authoritarian bombast to get my funding. Thatâs not the kind of person I wanted to be.
Fortunately, my executive coach suggested meditation...in a setting with real leaders who also meditated. It changed my life. This was the kind of leader I wanted to be!
