My opponent’s consistent support for abusers and enablers is disturbing and sickening. {NAME}, I'm reaching out with an urgent concern that goes beyond politics - the basic integrity of our leaders. My opponent Troy Balderson's unwavering support for Jim Jordan, in spite of the distressing allegations from his time as a wrestling coach at Ohio State University, is deeply troubling. This is isn’t just some kind of rumor or so-called cancel culture vendetta. Dozens of former OSU wrestlers have courageously spoken up, accusing Jordan of ignoring years of sexual abuse by Richard Strauss, a team doctor who died in 2005: Jordan has consistently refused to cooperate with an official investigation which found Strauss’s abuse “was an open secret.” The report also stated that “coaches, trainers and other team physicians were fully aware of Strauss’ activities, and yet few seemed inclined to do anything to stop it.”  Pretty on brand for today’s MAGA Republican Party. At a hearing of the Ohio state legislature, former wrestler Adam DiSabato, said “Jim Jordan called me crying, crying, groveling, on the Fourth of July…begging me to go against my brother, begging me, crying for half an hour. That’s the kind of cover-up that’s going on here. He’s a coward.” A former wrestler named Dunyasha Yetts previously said: “If Jordan says he didn’t know about it, then he’s lying.” Speaking to NBC, another former wrestler, Rocky Ratliff, said Jordan “abandoned his former wrestlers in the Ohio State sexual abuse scandal and cover-up.” As someone committed to justice and moral leadership, I find Balderson's decision to stand by Jordan all these years, and full-throatedly support his failed bid to become Speaker of the House, alarming.  Troy Balderson has already endorsed Trump for President in the current election. His support for Jim Jordan shows a disturbing, sickening pattern of enabling the naked ambition of some of America’s worst politicians.  I promise to be a leader who values integrity and justice, who listens to our community, and who always stands for what's right.
