As President Biden put it, sending people to jail for possessing marijuana — for conduct that is legal in many states! — has upended far too many lives, and that’s before we address the clear racial disparities around prosecution and conviction. But most of these cases are at the state level, not the federal level. So this is an area where state leadership can make an even bigger difference — and Chris Jones is committed to honoring the will of Arkansans and developing a just and equitable cannabis industry as Arkansas’ next governor. That includes legalizing cannabis, expunging criminal records related to marijuana, and using the new revenue to increase education funding.
