While we can’t give away a home as often as we’d like, we're excited to continue to empower hopeful homebuyers on their journey to homeownership through our non-profit affiliate, the Better Opportunity Fund. Through the Better Opportunity Fund, qualifying buyers can receive 2% of their home purchase price, up to $5,000, towards their down payment or closing costs through the HOPE Grant. Alex and Naomie come from very different backgrounds, but both have a deep appreciation for the importance of home. They call it a “safe harbor” and a “refuge.” In 2010, Alex traveled to Haiti after an earthquake with a medical relief team, where he met and fell in love with Naomie. He stayed beyond his initial 2 week plan, and eventually came back to the US to raise funds so that he could return to Haiti with an ambulance. 10 years later, Naomie’s dream of bringing her family to the US became her reality when four of her siblings were approved to travel to the United States as refugees under a new visa class established in January 2023.
