May 6, 2022 [Read in Browser]( You did it. You made it to the weekend! High-five yourself for us. And now, onto strength news. Team USA weightlifter Hampton Morris took home [a medal and a world record]( in Greece last weekend. Powerlifter Jessica Buettner can pretty much pull anything, as evidenced by [her latest deadlift feat](. And the next time you’re thinking about skipping your warm-up, don’t. We’ll [tell you why](. You can read the article…while you warm-up. WEIGHTLIFTING Hampton Morris Takes Home the Gold [Hampton Morris Junior World Champion]( Image: USA Weightlifting on Facebook On May 3, 61kg weightlifter Hampton Morris took to the stage at the 2022 International Weightlifting Federation‘s (IWF) Junior World Championships in Heraklion, Greece. There, Morris ascended to [the top of the podium]( by snatching 116 kgs/255.7 lbs and clean & jerking 160 kgs/352.7 lbs. Morris’ 160 kg jerk is both an IWF Junior World Record and a new Senior American Record in the 61 kg class. Morris bested his own 156 kg American Record, which he set late in 2021, as well as the former Junior World Record of 159 kilos, held by Uzbek lifter Adkhamjon Ergashev. According to the IWF’s official results page for the 2022 Junior World Championships, 18-year-old Morris took home the [gold medals in the clean & jerk and total](.    mailto:?subject=%F0%9F%8F%8B%EF%B8%8F%20don%26%238217%3Bt%20be%20THAT%20guy%20in%20the%20gym&body=%0A%0AWant%20more%20great%20content%3F%20Subscribe%20to%20BarBend%27s%20newsletter%20for%20all%20the%20latest%20news%20from%20fitness%20community.%20__s=s54a3u1vmp5xzj41089k --------------------------------------------------------------- POWERLIFTING Jess Buettner Beats World Record in Training [Jess Buettner]( Image: @djessicabuettner on Instagram Jessica Buettner is amidst her preparation for two upcoming sanctioned powerlifting meets: 2022 Canadian Powerlifting Union National Championships, scheduled for May 9-14, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The second is the 2022 IPF World Championships, scheduled for June 6-12, in Sun City, Africa. Given the frequency with which Buettner has been annihilating world record weight in training, it seems likely that she will best her squat and deadlift world records in Sun City. We’ll have a better sense of how heavy she is willing to go at the CPU National Championships, but expect the IPF to have to update their records page once Buettner steps off the lifting platform. On May 4, she took to her Instagram page to share a video wherein she deadlifted a 250 kg /551.2 lb raw double in the gym. That weight isn’t just heavy; it is 2.5 kg/5.5 lbs over the current International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) raw world record in the 76 kg weight class, which she scored at the 2021 IPF World Classic Championships in Halmstad, Sweden. Check out Buettner’s [jaw-dropping double pull](, courtesy of her Instagram page. --------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINING Thinking of Skipping Your Warm-Up? [man warming up hamstrings]( Image: djile / Shutterstock You probably know that person at the gym who walks in off the street, slaps a few plates on the bar and calls one light set their warm-up. You shouldn’t be that person. It might save time, and skipping your warm-up might seem appealing, but if you want to move, perform, and feel better, the warm-up is non-negotiable. A good warm-up aims to get your blood moving to the working muscles, ligaments, and tendons. This will get your body (and mind) ready for the training ahead. Your warm shouldn’t just consist of a few arm circles and static stretches, but dynamic exercises that improve mobility and performance in real time. We listed [the 15 best dynamic warm-up exercises]( to perform before you hit the barbell, as well as the benefits of warming up and a few programming suggestions to help you get the most out of your training.    mailto:?subject=%F0%9F%8F%8B%EF%B8%8F%20don%26%238217%3Bt%20be%20THAT%20guy%20in%20the%20gym&body=%0A%0AWant%20more%20great%20content%3F%20Subscribe%20to%20BarBend%27s%20newsletter%20for%20all%20the%20latest%20news%20from%20fitness%20community.%20__s=s54a3u1vmp5xzj41089k --------------------------------------------------------------- EVERYTHING ELSE What's New?
