April 29, 2022 Greetings, Strength Lovers! Welcome to the Friday edition of BarBend’s newslet

April 29, 2022 [Read in Browser]( Greetings, Strength Lovers! Welcome to the Friday edition of BarBend’s newsletter. It’s been a big week, and a big weekend is ahead of us. The 2022 [Giants Live Strongman events were announced](, and they’re a LOT of fun. Also, the [Arnold Classic South American Men’s Open]( is this weekend. Polish powerlifter Krzysztof Wierzbicki is celebrating his continued heavy deadlift streak with what is (so far) [the heaviest deadlift ever]( caught on camera. This weekend, consider spending some time getting to know the difference between [a pull-up and a chin-up](. Maybe we have a pop quiz planned on Monday, and maybe we don’t 🤷 STRONGMAN 2022 Giants Live Strongman Events Announced [evan_trex_strongman]( Image: @evan_trex_strongman on Instagram The 2022 Giants Live Strongman Classic is set for July 9, 2022, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, and the contest just got more interesting. Earlier this week, Giants Live released the 2022 Strongman Classic event list. The one-day contest will feature the five events listed below: - Dumbbell Medley - The Pillars of Hercules - Farmer’s Carry for Distance - Axle Deadlift - Castle Stones 2020 World’s Strongest Man champion Oleksii Novikov will attempt to defend his title, and several of the events lean to his strengths, notably the dumbbell medley.Check out the [event descriptions and the athlete roster](, which still needs one name added to it. Who will be the final confirmed athlete?    mailto:?subject=%F0%9F%8F%8B%EF%B8%8F%20the%20NEW%20heaviest%20deadlift%20ever&body=%0A%0AWant%20more%20great%20content%3F%20Subscribe%20to%20BarBend%27s%20newsletter%20for%20all%20the%20latest%20news%20from%20fitness%20community.%20__s=s54a3u1vmp5xzj41089k --------------------------------------------------------------- POWERLIFTING Heaviest Deadlift on Camera [Krzysztof Wierzbicki]( Image: @worldsstrongestfan on Instagram Polish powerlifter Krzysztof Wierzbicki lifted the heaviest deadlift ever caught on camera. According to a video shared by Wierzbicki on his Instagram stories, he pulled an astounding [502.5 kgs/1,107.8 lbs in training]( in a sumo stance while wearing lifting straps. It seems Wierzbicki has been building up to his unofficial all-time world record attempt for some time, having scored a 490 kg/ 1,080.3 lb lift on April 20 and a 461kg /1,016.3 lb deadlift triple on April 12. Wierzbicki’s lift is more than both of the only other two athletes to ever deadlift over 500 kgs — 2017 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) Eddie Hall and 2018 WSM champion Hafthor Björnsson. --------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINING Chin Up Vs. Pull Up [A person with tattoos on both arms wears a sports bra while performing a chin-up.]( Image: Jacob Lund / Shutterstock When you want to build up your back and full-body strength, stabilize your core, and look like an all-around badass, you probably want to master pull-ups…..and then also chin-ups. Well, yes. Chin-ups and pull-ups are both amazing exercises — but [they’re not the same thing](. The pull-up and chin-up are far too often (and unknowingly) programmed interchangeably. This is an understandable mistake. After all, both exercises have you gripping a bar and pulling your chin above it. But when it comes down to brass tacks in programming, the simple word choice of “pull” or “chin” can make a world of difference in the gains you can expect. From hand orientation to the muscles each move works, knowing how and when to choose each variation is important to consider. So yes, the pull-up and chin-up are different — and it does matter. [Here’s why](.    mailto:?subject=%F0%9F%8F%8B%EF%B8%8F%20the%20NEW%20heaviest%20deadlift%20ever&body=%0A%0AWant%20more%20great%20content%3F%20Subscribe%20to%20BarBend%27s%20newsletter%20for%20all%20the%20latest%20news%20from%20fitness%20community.%20__s=s54a3u1vmp5xzj41089k --------------------------------------------------------------- EVERYTHING ELSE What's New?
