Woah...has it been two DECADES already?! This month marks officially 20 years of AncientFaces. In September 2000, we released the first version of AncientFaces - a place where [Pam (Kroetch) Marks]( envisioned everyone could share old family photos to add to our family trees. Over the last two decades AncientFaces has grown from a few hundred old photos to over 1 million images containing 200 million biographies maintained by a community of 285k+ members. This initial concept has grown into a mission shared by many; we firmly believe that everyone deserves to be remembered. AncientFaces has evolved into a place to share the stories about who our loved ones really were through biographies. Bios include all of the basic details (dates, locations and family trees), but more importantly include photos, memories & stories that have been passed down. When we create these profiles of our loved ones we give them an online footprint which they never had the opportunity to create for themselves. Other people add their stories, recollections and photos, and through our collaborative efforts we '[Show & Tell the Story]( of the people that matter most. We wish to thank each and every one of you for making this community so special. So begins their foray into democracy. In the beginning of our democracy, only white men who were property owners could vote. In the succeeding decades, African-Americans and women were added to the Constitution, giving a voice to those who were previously left out. And yet, many do not choose to exercise their right. In 1828, 57.6% of those eligible voted, in 1876 a high of 81.8% men voted. Since then, there has been a steady decline in those who have participated. In 2016, the voting age population was 250+ million but those who turned out to vote numbered a mere 138+ million - only 55.5% of those eligible. If you think that this is a low percentage, it was higher than the previous half century when the percentage hovered around 50%.]( [Read more]( Social Highlights [Alfredo to Lucella]( [I want to know his story!
