Due to WW2, everyone had to use ration books for such staples as sugar, meat, dairy, coffee, oils, and more. Tires, gasoline, fuel oil, coal, firewood, nylon, silk, and shoes were also severely limited. Were our grandparents of sturdier stock than us?
