Celebrate Saint Patrickâs Day with plenty of green attire and these festive dishes. Cast Iron Shepherdâs Pie
We use ground beef as our base and add tomato paste, garlic, and thyme to bump up the flavor. Flour, chicken broth, and Worcestershire sauce are all that we need to create a rich gravy, and a final addition of green peas adds a pop of freshness. To give our potato topping needed structure, we add egg, milk, and butter.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner
The key to success for this recipe is the placement of the ingredients in the slow cooker. We put the meat in first, sprinkle the pickling spice over it, and place the potatoes and carrots between the meat and the wall of the slow cooker. This arrangement gives us enough room to add the cabbage from the get-go, rather than at the end of cooking.

Brown Soda Bread
Toasted wheat germ bumps up the sweet, nutty flavor of the whole wheat and adds texture. Baking powder, in addition to the traditional baking soda, guarantees a heartyânot heavyâloaf. A touch of sugar and a few tablespoons of butter keep our bread wholesome but not health-foody, and brushing a portion of the melted butter on the loaf after baking gives it a rich crust.
