And a peek inside the Posseverse. {NAME}, I haven't shared this with many people yet⦠But a few weeks ago, I had one of the worst days of my life. While on a remote island off the coast of Vancouver, my dog, Tater, chased a deer off a 12-foot cliff⦠Leaving her injured and completely paralyzed from the lower back down. I'll never forget the sound she made or the way my heart sank into my stomach (and still does) when I think about that moment. I barely remember what happened next⦠I went down after her, injuring my knee on the way down, and with the help of my dad, got her back up to solid ground. She was so scared, and so was I⦠And the worst thing was, we were hundreds of miles and an ocean away from the nearest vet hospital⦠But Tater had angels looking out for her that day⦠It was 8:30am on a Saturday, and my dad knew that the only float plane arriving on the island that day would be landing a short 20-minute drive away at 9am. We got into the car and drove like mad to the dock where we anxiously waited for the plane to arrive. I was still in my PJs, covered in mud⦠Tater was in shock⦠It was terrifying. When the plane landed, we were able to get 2 seats on board the 5-passenger plane and off we went to Vancouver. Where my best friend picked us up at the pier and drove us to the best veterinary hospital in Western Canada. From the moment she hurt herself to the moment we drove up to the hospital, it had only been 1 hour and 30 minutes. I still don't know how we did it. Tater was whisked away for x-rays and a CT scan⦠No broken bones (thanks again to those puppy angels)... But she did have a serious spinal cord injury that was confirmed 3 days later with an MRI. Luckily, the vet we chose was the only place in the city with a full-blown neurology department and an MRI machine⦠Which meant she could stay under their care until her appointment after the long weekend (again, those angels had Tater's back). While those 3 days without Tater were the longest days everrrrrrr, the prognosis was good. I'll never forget the feeling of relief rush over me when I heard the doc say⦠"Tater will walk again" ð But she didn't know how long it would take. We were able to take Tater home that day, but the next 3 weeks were exhausting (and tbh, I'm still a hot mess)⦠Between cleaning her catheter, carrying her around 24/7, doing rehab exercises every 3 hours and waking up every 1-2 hours to help her move, lick and scratch, we were struggling⦠Oh and did I mention I was also in the middle of a launch? After weeks of round-the-clock care from my husband and me, she finally started to regain mobility and show signs of improvement⦠And⦠{NAME}... A few days ago she took her first few steps on her own!! Oh my heart. We're not out of the woods just yet⦠We've still got a long road of recovery ahead until she's back to her old self, but my spunky little pup is doing the damn thing⦠And this is her comeback story. I wasn't sure if I should share this with you, {NAME} â because it's pretty personal and, honestly, I was an emotional wreck⦠You wouldn't tell from my Instagram or social profiles (massive shoutout to my amazing team who kept things going while I had my focus elsewhere)... But that's exactly WHY I wanted to share this⦠Because everything you see on social media is a highlight reel. We tend to share the best parts of our lives publicly... And keep the painful parts private... But it's those dark moments that remind us of what's important in life, who we can lean on for support and that we're all more alike than we think. So if you're going through anything right now... Please know you're not alone and, to repeat something I've said over and over again in my head these past few weeks⦠This too shall pass ð **And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.** Now that Tater and I are both doing better, I'm looking forward to diving back into work and play⦠And DAMN, I have something amazing planned for you this month 𤩠Here's what's happening in the Posseverse⦠â¡ï¸ THE.
