Read on to discover the most interesting news items November has brought us in the world of SEO. Follow me, and you’ll see… Google has recently announced a more personalized search experience – or at the very least, a way to save those frequent searches. In the most recent [Search update]( the engineers at Google rolled out a new Follow button feature, which is basically a bookmark for your search history. [New Follow Button to Get Search Updates In Your Home Feed And When You Revisit The Search]( Hitting the Follow button on a topic will push the most recent and new-to-you results to the top of your home feed next time you perform the same search. There’s also an option to receive a notification if something relevant to your search pops up – super helpful for those of us who want to know when the next big thing in SEO comes around. Which of your most frequent searches will you be following? G7 Agrees on AI Code of Conduct The seven biggest industrialized countries in the world agreed earlier this month on what the future of AI development will look like. In an effort to put some guardrails around the light-speed development of artificial intelligence systems, G7 leaders signed an 11-point code of conduct that, [according to Reuters]( "….aims to promote safe, secure, and trustworthy AI worldwide and will provide voluntary guidance for actions by organizations developing the most advanced AI systems, including the most advanced foundation models and generative AI systems" What does this mean for the future of AI development? Breathe easy, ChatGPT users – nothing is actually changing at the moment. The countries have agreed to keep an eye out on new developments to mitigate risks associated with potential misuse of the technology. And I think we can all agree that is a Good Thing. Core Update Glitch Confirmed by SearchLiaison In news that shocked absolutely no one, Google confirmed earlier this month that there was, in fact, an issue with one of the core updates that happened this year. [Tweet from Google SearchLiaison Account That Says A Bug They Found Was Resolved]( When report after report after report of site rankings dropping off a cliff started piling in on X/Twitter, Google rep Danny Sullivan jumped in to provide some feedback. According to an [update]( posted a few days later, Sullivan confirmed that they found and resolved a bug in Discovery. The search team also reviewed the reported issues to see whether more adjustments need to be made. Whether this bug fix makes an impact on the sites that tanked is still TBD, but typically reversals aren’t felt until the next broad core update.
