However, there were more big happenings this month that deserve the spotlight. Let’s check them out! Video Search Gets An Update at Google Have your content pages benefitted from having embedded video that showed up in search results? You may want to reconsider how those videos are used going forward – Google has announced a [major change]( in the way video thumbnails appear in the SERPs. As of last week, pages that have video as one element of the page (like in a blog post), will no longer show a thumbnail in the search results. [New Verticles]( Pages, where video is the main content, are not affected by this change. According to Google, "This change will impact search appearance reported metrics for videos in the performance report in Search Console." Will this update change the way videos are used across your website? Majestic Launches a Typo Domain Tool Some good news for people who type too fast – Majestic has launched a new [Typo Domain tool]( that can help quickly identify possible misspellings of a domain name that have links pointing to them. As Majestic explains, this tool will "combine a misspelling generator and a domain link checker into one tool and return a list of domains that are similar to the one submitted that have at least one external backlink." You’re then free to track down those misspelled links and get them pointing to your (properly spelled) domain! While the Typo Domain tool is still in the experimental stage (and available in English only), we’re curious to see what other features will be added in the future! Twitter Publishes Their Recommendation Algorithm Social media folks, listen up. If you were looking for a way to better leverage the social platform’s algorithm, today’s your day. In a bid for more transparency, Twitter has made its [Recommendation algorithm]( available to the public. Some key takeaways: - Buy Twitter Blue for extra reach – 2x - 4x more reach, to be specific - Stay in your lane – there’s a penalty to posting content that doesn’t make sense for your topic/interest cluster - Check your spelling – made-up and misspelled words (in any of Twitter’s interface languages) are severely penalized - Mind your links – too many external links might get tagged as spam One thing Twitter makes clear is that despite all these boosts and penalties, engagement is still king. [New Verticles]( Check out the full algorithm code [here](. And that wraps up our SEO finds for this month! What did you think? Anything we missed?
