open up for this month's industry insights! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  It’s time for a round-up of the newest happenings in SEO for this month. Let’s dive into the most important updates we’ve seen throughout August and the first half of September. Google’s completed page experience update is now rolled out This update is designed to judge web pages based on how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page. A user's page experience is made up of several different factors including mobile-friendliness, page speed, and safe browsing. The slow rollout of this update began on June 15th. Google has stated that you should not expect/see drastic changes to your rankings as a result of this update. This update also introduced updates to the top stories mobile carousel and changes to the Google News app. Learn more here: [( John Mueller says website themes impact SEO According to Google, good themes will make it easier for search engines to understand the content of a website. A theme will impact how the website displays many core SEO elements including: - Headings - Text - Images - How pages are interlinked - Page load times - Structured Data John Mueller states "It’s easy to consider website themes as just a splash of color on top of a finished structure. But there’s so much more involved." He goes on to mention how a website's theme can determine how the content is displayed, how pages are internally linked, and the pages’ load time. To learn more, watch John Mueller’s video here: [ John Mueller answers why web pages disappear from search console reports John’s answer to this question is as follows: "Essentially what is happening is for these reports we look at a sample of the URLs from your website. So it’s something where having fewer URLs in these reports doesn’t mean that the other URLs are bad or problematic. It’s just we didn’t check them. Especially for the aggregate reports, which is for the Core Web Vitals to some extent, the AMP report, the Structured Data report, mobile-friendliness (I think as well)… for those reports we only take a look at a sample… and that sample can change over time. So it can happen that we look at 200 URLs from your site now and then maybe in a month or two we’ll look at 100 URLs from your website. That doesn’t mean that the difference is bad. It’s just that we looked at a smaller sample of the URLs from your website." Mueller advises that with these reports it’s best to focus on what is being reported and not be concerned with how many pages are reported on. You can hear John talk more about this at the 51:33 minute mark of this video: [( And that wraps up our SEO finds for this month. What did you think? Anything we missed?
