Steamy Kitchen Update

  Happy Holiday {NAME}! I'm a little bit nostalgic today....I miss this guy: Duke has been in Canada, and that photo is a screenshot of my phone when I FaceTime'd him this weekend. I gave a little whistle, and called his name....and he picked up a tennis ball and looked directly at the phone! Amanda (Steamy Kitchen's site manager) is taking really good care of him, teaching him how to run in the snow and avoid the ice (Duke is a Las Vegas desert puppy!) Little doggy booties don't stay on him for more than a few minutes (have you ever seen a dog successfully walk with booties on???) I do really miss Duke - the kisses, the warm dog-breath, the snuggles and I even miss the piles of dog hair that I'd have to sweep every day. The house is strangely quiet without the soft breathing of a sleeping pup beside me.  In the past 20 years, I haven't really had a chance to be alone or the freedom to do nothing. I've always had kids to care for, dogs to play with, chickens to feed, gardens to tend to, a partner beside me. This last week of 2020 is just for me. It's my time to hibernate, and also plan for next year. I want to travel more....I can work from anywhere in the world....and I'm itching to dig my hiking shoes in new places, to get lost in the energy of a big city, or be lulled asleep by rhythmic waves of the ocean. I think it's time to create a vision board for my adventures of 2021. How are you planning your new year? Do you journal? Create vision boards, too? I have a stack of magazines, a posterboard and lots of glue. I'm ready to create and manifest my new year.
