We wanted to introduce you to four pro-choice women who are medical providers and are running in some of the most competitive races at the state and local level. You are receiving this email from 314 Action Fund because you’ve previously expressed interest or taken part in our efforts. If you’d rather not get all of our updates you can [click here]( for only the most important emails. To unsubscribe instantly [you can click here.]( With Roe v. Wade overturned and 26 states expected to virtually ban abortion access by year’s end, reproductive rights will be decided at the state level. In many states, like Georgia and Pennsylvania, the outcome of the election THIS November will decide whether abortion is banned outright or not. So far, we’ve endorsed and are supporting 100 pro-choice women with STEM backgrounds at the state and local level. Nearly three dozen of them have backgrounds in healthcare, including nurses, pediatricians, physicians, and pharmacists. [We’re going to introduce you to four of them below: Michelle Au in Georgia, Liz Boldon in Minnesota, Mary Kathleen Figaro in Iowa, and Eva Burch in Arizona. But before we do that, can we ask you to chip in $4 right now? One donation may not seem like it will make a difference, but when thousands step up and donate, it makes a major difference in these small races.Â]( [DONATE NOW]( You might not know this fact but campaigns for state and local office are significantly cheaper than campaigns for statewide office or Congress. Meaning your donation goes further – especially in states where control of the state legislature could come down to a handful of races decided by a handful of votes – your support absolutely makes a difference! So meet four of our pro-choice changemakers who stepped off the sidelines to protect abortion access in their state: [Michelle Au](. Michelle Au (GA HD-50) — Dr. Michelle Au is the only Democratic physician in the entire Georgia General Assembly. As a tireless pro-choice champion in a state where Republicans passed one of the nation’s most extreme abortion bans into law, Republicans actually tried to draw Michelle out of the assembly entirely during redistricting. Georgia has one of the worst rates of maternal mortality in the country and is one of only 12 states to refuse to expand Medicaid. Michelle is working to address both issues and has already introduced nearly half a dozen bills aimed at reducing gun violence. But the election for this House district was decided by just 1,500 votes in 2020, meaning Michelle is counting on us to have her back in this tough race. --------------------------------------------------------------- Boldon (MN SD-25) – Liz Boldon is a former ICU nurse who is running for the open GOP-held seat left by retiring State Senator David Senjem (R) who barely won re-election in 2020 by a margin of just over 1,200 votes. If Democrats flip just 2 seats in the 67-seat chamber, they will win a pro-choice majority in the State Senate and flip the entire chamber. While the state constitution in Minnesota protects the right to seek an abortion, Republicans in the state have successfully placed many needless restrictions on access. Which is why, from climate to gun safety to reproductive rights, we need Liz in the State Senate. --------------------------------------------------------------- [Ruben Ramirez]( Kathleen Figaro (IA SD-47)– Dr. Mary Kathleen Figaro is a physician with nearly three decades of experience serving local Iowa families and has a background in public health and endocrinology. She’s running for office for the first time to best provide for her patients for an open GOP-held Senate District seat that Republicans only defended by 1,500 votes in 2018. Republicans have successfully passed countless restrictions on abortion access at the state level, but if Mary and six other pro-choice Democrats flip GOP-held seats, they’ll flip control of the entire State Senate. If elected, Mary would be the first Black woman to ever serve in the Iowa State Senate in the state’s history. --------------------------------------------------------------- [Eva Burch (AZ SD-9)]( Burch (AZ SD-9) – Republicans only hold a majority in the Arizona State Senate by a single seat, with the chamber split 16-14. Just this past week, the GOP Attorney General of the state ruled that an 158-year old law passed at the state level that banned abortion is enforceable statewide. Eva is a former emergency room nurse and nurse practitioner who is running against a vulnerable GOP Senator who opposes abortion in a race that could decide control of the entire chamber. [Michelle, Liz, Mary, and Eva are frontline medical professionals and pro-choice women on the front lines of defending reproductive rights in their states: Can we count on you to give as little as $4 to help fuel their fights?]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be processed immediately: [CHIP IN $4 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $25 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $50 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $100 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $200 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN ANOTHER AMOUNT »]( Thank you, 314 Action Fund PAID FOR BY 314 ACTION FUND, 314ACTION.ORG, NOT AUTHORIZED BY ANY CANDIDATE OR ANY CANDIDATE'S COMMITTEE. [Click here to unsubscribe from 314 Action's Email List]( 314 Action is a grassroots community of over 6 million people working to elect Democratic scientists at all levels of government who will use science and facts to address some of our most pressing issues from climate change and gun violence to health care and protecting the environment. To date, we've flipped five U.S. Senate seats from red to blue, including drafting both Mark Kelly and John Hickenlooper to run, helped Democrats flip the House in 2018 by electing eight Democrats in red to blue districts, and secured more than six dozen state legislative victories -- All with an average donation of $18. The best way we can build on the progress we've achieved and empower President Joe Biden's science-first agenda is to defend our razor-thin majorities in the House and Senate, which is why we're targeting 68 Senate, House, Gubernatorial and statewide races ahead of 2022. We're creating political consequences for the Republicans who disavow science, deny the reality of climate change, and spread conspiracy theories as a result.
