Dear reader, Something big is happening in the lithium market, creating an exciting opportunity for this bear market. In the last 12 months, lithium prices have risen $27K per tonne up to over $77K - a 186% increase. And several key factors are expected to continue pushing lithium to new highs. Lithium demand is rising at a rapid pace and is expected to outstrip supply in just a few years. While this may not be great news for companies and industries that rely on lithium, it is very positive for investors. You see, increased lithium demand is causing a supercycle of supply deficits and long-term high prices. All over the world, nations are scrambling to find new sources of lithium in places such as Australia, South America, and even Africa. But according to Canaccord on of Canada’s largest investment banks, [Canada is positioned to become a key lithium player]( in the medium term. With a growing number of active development and exploration projects, Canada could become a significant lithium-producing nation in the medium to long term. The country hosts the next big lithium-producing mine – the North American Lithium Mine (NAL) – which is slated for production in Q1 2023. NAL is currently owned by Sayona Quebec, a joint venture (JV) between Sayona Mining (ASX:SYA), which owns a 75% stake and Piedmont Lithium (NASDAQ:PLL), which holds the remaining 25%. The project contains an estimated 29.2 million tonnes (Mt) of proven and probable mineral reserves grading 0.96% Li₂O, with contained Li₂O of 280,300t. And there’s one particularly interesting junior exploration company with a significantly large land position directly next door (2.17 miles) to North American Lithium. That company is [FE Battery Metals (CSE:FE) (OTCQB:FEMFD)](, and it’s quickly revealing its potential to become the next significant discovery in the region. FE Battery Metals’ Augustus hard-rock lithium project holds a dominant land position just northwest of Val d’or, Québec and contains several historical finds and new lithium prospects. The company’s footprint currently sits at approximately 27,000 hectares in a growing lithium district. Since 2021, FE Battery Metals has completed over 8,000 meters of diamond drilling on Augustus, including prospecting, stripping, grab and channel sampling, and a 5,847-meter Phase One diamond drill program comprised of 32 drill holes, 27 of which intersected significant spodumene-bearing lithium. And that’s not all. FE Battery Metals also has a noteworthy blue sky bonus project in Ontario that is directly adjacent and parallel to Frontier Lithium’s Electric Avenue projects. In short, the lithium supply crunch is expected to keep prices elevated for the foreseeable future, and FE Battery Metals has plenty of potential to make a big lithium impact with its two very promising Canada-based projects.
