Plus New Zacks Strong Buys for Wednesday, May 1 Profit from the Pros Busy Week For Earnings, S&P Not

Plus New Zacks Strong Buys for Wednesday, May 1 Profit from the Pros Busy Week For Earnings, S&P Notches Another New All-Time High Close Stocks finished mixed yesterday. But the S&P notched another new all-time high close in the process. Google weighed on trading a bit yesterday after reporting a rare revenue miss Monday night. But there were plenty of other high profile beats yesterday, lifting stocks into mostly positive territory by the close. And Apple reported both top and bottom line beats after the close with shares up nearly 5% in after-hours trade. It's a jam packed week of earnings. And that's great news for stocks given how well this earnings season has been so far. It's also a jam packed week of economic reports. Today we'll get a look at housing via the Mortgage Applications report, a look at employment via the ADP Employment report, a look at manufacturing via the PMI Manufacturing and ISM Manufacturing reports, and a look at construction via the Construction Spending report. We'll also get the FOMC Meeting Announcement and Fed Chair Press Conference today. No change is expected on rates. But after President Trump expressed his desire to see the Fed cut rates by 1%, it'll be interesting to hear if Mr. Powell has any comments on cutting rates. The big economic report however will be Friday's Employment Situation report. Last month's report underscored our record employment. And this report is expected to do the same. In the meantime, there's another 415 companies reporting earnings today. Should be a busy day. And if the good news continues, another day of new all-time highs in the market.
