Our travel perspective thoughts We're hesitant to share or give advice in regards to the Coronavirus

Our travel perspective thoughts We're hesitant to share or give advice in regards to the Coronavirus as we're still trying to figure out the facts and really just don't know what to think or believe. We don't want to share misinformation with you and we trust you know where to find it from the right experts.... maybe. We're obviously not medical experts and for several years now have sought alternative healing methods. You go with what works for you. With the cancelling of MAJOR industry travel events like SXSX and ITB Berlin, Italy quarantining its entire country, Qantas grounding nearly 30% of its planes, flights almost empty and tourism attractions no longer having Instagram selfie lines, I know for sure the travel industry is experiencing some challenging times. Not great for all us passionate travelers (or could be with deals coming out) and absolutely terrible for economies all over the world and those who depend on the tourism industry. So speaking from a travel and industry perspective, our advice: 1. Always trust your gut. If you don't feel good don't do it. Get your information from multiple sources (hopefully trusted, but who knows anymore) but at the end TRUST YOUR GUT. 2. We can't travel internationally right now (green card approval limitations) but if we had a trip booked, we would do our diligence, trust our guts and probably still go because we know we have strong immune systems, good hygiene practices and aren't in direct connection with the vulnerable when we return. We also work from home so can easily self-quarantine ourselves. We'd also be okay if we were put on quarantine for a few weeks. Would you be? 3. The issue for most people at the moment is not becoming drastically ill because of this fast spreading virus, but overloading the medical system unnecessarily and stopping those who are frail and elderly from receiving treatment they need more than others. Thriving societies must consider the whole. 4. Research the area you're intending to visit. Probably not good going if many things are going to be closed!! It's changing daily so put on those hawk eyes each morning. 5. If you decide to go but are just going to stress and feel anxious the entire time, it's probably best to cut your losses and not go. You travel to disconnect and experience wonder and joy. If you aren't going to find that, don't waste your time and money. 6. Check travel insurance policies, buy refundable tickets - do all you can to protect and hedge your bets. Also, are you okay with having to wait months for a refund? This is likely to happen. 7. There are LOADS of great deals at the moment, so if you do feel you're in a good position to not get sick or transfer (see our points 2 and 4 above) it might be prime time for you to travel (see point 5) 8. Spend every day of your life taking care of your body and build a strong immune system. 9. Don't panic, buy into hysteria and send the shelves empty of toilet paper!! There are people every day dealing with chronic illnesses who do, in this moment, need that toilet paper and other things. Hoarding does not help others. Be calm and think straight. 10. Respect other people's decisions and personal circumstances. Some people may be more concerned and frightened than others. Some may feel safe and want to keep exploring. That's okay. Each person and individual circumstances are unique and personal. Support and help one another. 11. Look to local travel. It's always a good option. Choose a travel mindset, no matter where you are. 12. Support local businesses right now, especially those who rely on tourism and people being out and about enjoying life. 13. This will pass. You may not want to travel right now, but as soon as this passes you will. So keep your dream alive. Keep researching and planning. Be ready to jump on those deals when you find them. Keep reading travel blogs - we need your support right now more than ever, and you can easily still read us from the safe quarantine of your home! We feel we picked a good year to slow down our travels!! It's been a challenging few months for the travel industry and I don't think it will get better for awhile. Life moves in circles - we have up times and down times. Allow this down time to pass along as it's meant to. It will pass and things will get better. Be well. Be Safe. Be kind. Be joyful (you can find it in all the everyday moments too!)
