Living out childhood dreams We were excited to explore the Goonies territory in Oregon this past wee

Living out childhood dreams We were excited to explore the Goonies territory in Oregon this past week. Astoria and Cannon Beach is where much of that iconic movie from the eighties was filmed. A movie about friendship, adventure and working to create something better for the greater good. I remember watching it at the cinema as a young child– one of the first movies I was allowed to go off on my own with friends to watch. We had our bags of candy we snuck in from the supermarket across the road and we were bugged out excited the entire time – laughing, cheering and dreaming. I didn’t realize how big an impact the Goonies had on me until this week when we arrived to Ecola Point and looked out over the scene. You know the one at the end after they’ve discovered the treasure and completed their quest. Bonding, overcoming challenges and growing as a result of the shared adventure. Wow. Wow. Wow. I am here. I am a GOONIE!! In that vision arrived what felt like an entire lifetime of dreaming. I remembered watching that movie and wanting it – the life of adventure, of comraderies, of making life about something bigger than me. And I wanted to arrive at something so beautiful at the end of it – with all the riches of One Eyed Willy. Here I was in that very spot after years of my very own adventures that have taken me around the world for 0er 20 years. Battling through the ups and downs, solving problems, forming friendships with people along the way and arriving at one treasure after enough. Never stop the dreaming. Allow the movies, books, songs and stories of your childhood to continue to guide you. You probably won't realize it while you are in the thick of it, but they are guiding you to the treasure. Just remember these words to help you overcome the troublesome periods when you want to jump in the bucket and be pulled out of the well: "Goonies never say Die!" That life, those views, the adventure and the treasure has your back. Caz P.S. My weekly email is late as we've been without internet, which is always nice!
