Video games inspire a subgenre of food content. "A fascinating trend we've seen lately is people making food that shows up in their favorite video games. Even the biggest foodie creators like Babish Culinary Universe (10M subscribers) are going all in with an entire video series dedicated to gaming inspired foods, like the [Dragon Ball Z deluxe meat course]() and the [Pokémon pasta curry](),â says Earnest. This trend has inspired a new, highly-engaged content genre on YouTube, giving rise to Mr. Beast-sized spectacles like [Making the Worldâs Largest Minecraft Cake](). Less recipes, more stories. Thereâs something about a warm meal that helps people connect with those around them. Even online, Maddy is seeing food creators get comfortably candid while preparing or eating their meals. Thereâs a rise in foodies narrating stories about their lives without mentioning their dish or recipe. Take The Korean Vegan, who [shared her familyâs beautiful heritage while making handmade noodles](). Delicious food might be what draws viewers in, but itâs creatorsâ stories that keep them coming back for more. These trends show that even with a topic as conventional as food, creators find new ways to innovate and engage viewers. In turn, viewers consistently turn to YouTube in a world where they have a range of content options. And advertisers have the opportunity to connect with these highly engaged, leaned-in audiences across YouTubeâs always fresh, always relevant content. A TASTE OF THE TRENDS [ Sideserf Cake Studio ⢠3.98M subscribers With her hyper-realistic video game console cakes, Natalie Sideserf isnât new to the gaming food trend. Her latest creation takes the cake with a Minecraft-style puppy.

Weâre kicking off this important month spotlighting creator Amelia Dimoldenberg, whose videos received more than 88M views last year2. Known for her dry humor and awkward interview style, Amelia's content is authentically her. In her âChicken Shop Dateâ series, she interviews celebrity guests in a no-frills fried chicken shop. Itâs a hit with young audiences, with the [Louis Theroux episode]() sparking the wildly popular âjiggle jiggleâ sound-bite-turned-dance. Even more, sheâs relatable. âAmeliaâs Cooking Showâ â another food-themed series on her channel â strays away from the traditional cooking show format that showcases the culinary prowess of hosts & guests. Ironically, Amelia canât cook, often presenting inedible dishes at the end of her videos. Ameliaâs work is a great demonstration of food not being the star of the content, but simply an agent to learn about the lives of her guests.
