Hello
People often say, "take time to stop and smell the roses". After all, in the daily hustle bustle, mindfulness is a luxury that most of us cannot afford. But how did we end up here? Why didn’t we pause to put our mental health on top of our priorities? What happened to the pursuit of happiness? This, and more such elements, are soon going to be a part of the curriculum in more than 300 schools in England.
Initiated as a part of a massive mental health trial, the subject on mindfulness will include lessons on relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and other methods to help students manage emotions. Schools will run this trial until 2021. During this time, they will gradually introduce students to issues surrounding mental health, well-being and happiness.
It might sound ambitious at the moment, but it’s surely a step in the right direction. Schools in India, are you listening?
Cheers,
