We receive all our news and filter all our ideas through social media. That leads many in my generation to support socialist ideas while conveniently keeping the negative consequences of those ideas at arms’ length — safe in the realm of make-believe and experiments gone wrong. Even worse, some students are lied to by their own teachers. They think mass murderers like Ernesto "Che" Guevara are heroes. I didn't read this. I saw it at my last high school event. A six-foot-tall poster of the socialist revolutionary Che Guevara was on a wall of the classroom I was visiting to bring the students to my event. I was shocked. It's unacceptable that mass murderers like him are glorified in our schools. But I saw this as an opportunity. I was able to debunk this for the students and tell them about the crimes of socialist regimes, including those by people like Che Guevara. It’s one thing to hear about people far away enduring the dangers of socialism. If it only exists on a screen, you can make it disappear with a click. But the consequences of socialism are much harder to ignore when students are face-to-face with someone like me who has lived through it. I started the Dissident Project so high school students could hear firsthand accounts of the horrors of socialism and authoritarianism from myself and other speakers from around the world. I know how important it is for someone like me to bring reality to what happens when socialism takes over. Because the next generation needs reality more than anything right now. [Will you help the Dissident Project educate Gen Z about the dangers of socialism? A live testimonial has the power to go beyond the transmission of information. Live speeches catch more attention and allow for follow-up from high school students. That’s why the Dissident Project sends our speakers to high schools across the country in person. Unlike college, students have no choice but to listen to our stories when we visit, and they are hooked by our inspirational stories and learn of the dangers of socialism in the process. We are living proof of what happens when socialism takes over but also of the blessings of America, the nation that welcomed us. Your support can help us share our unique stories about the dangers of oppressive government with the next generation. Click below to send your gift. Our speakers reached thousands of high school students with their stories and gave them a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will stick with them for years to come. This first year has been incredible! And we expect demand for the Dissident Project to skyrocket this upcoming school year. We even added 6 more speakers to our ranks to keep up with the demand. Now, we have even more stories to share with high school students and inspire them to have the courage to speak out against tyranny and to love America. These are the messages high school students need to hear. Otherwise, they might continue to support socialist ideas until it’s too late, just like it happened in my home country of Venezuela. By donating today, you can help us send trained speakers to high schools at no charge. Your generous gift helps us share our experiences and tell the next generation about the reality of socialism.
