This led to a police crackdown that got at least two people killed and dozens wounded. Subsequently, Merino resigned less than a week into his new administration. It’s been over a month since several peaceful protesters were gunned down at the Lekki toll gate by the Nigerian army, and yet no one has resigned or remotely been ‘suspended’.
