[View this email in your browser] Dear YNaija Reader, here are the week's top stories. A week that began with everyone thankful for the end of the US presidential campaign, and many hoping for a Hillary Clinton victory, now end the week coming to terms with the reality of a President Donald Trump. Our [special editorial] on Wednesday morning looked at what kind of America most of the world have woke up to, and how this election rounded off a storming year for [anti-establishment] forces. There were other interesting stories around the elections: Wole Soyinka says he will destroy his green card when [Trump is sworn in], and TB Joshua [predicted] Hillary Clinton would win, before [deleting the video] after her defeat. [Protesters in major US cities] were not taking Trump’s win kindly either, but it is medicine after death. Now, for the rest of the week’s highlights Tributes for Lieutenant Colonel who died a week ago poured in throughout the weekend. He was [buried on Monday], and the House of Representatives recommended that he be [promoted posthumously]. The DSS are now dictating the price at which foreign exchange [should be sold]. This will not end well at all. Following Mahmud Mohammed’s retirement as Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen was sworn in as acting CJN this week, and the Senate [screened two nominees] for the Supreme Court. JAMB says it [d][oes not have the money] to conduct the UTME. After ministers have been barred from flying business class, [civil servants are next]. Nigeria does not have money. SBM Intelligence took a stab at what Donald Trump's emergence will [mean for Nigeria]. A letter from a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Maria Ude Nwachi, also known as ‘Afikpo Chic’, offered counsel [to Linda Ikeji] over a recent interview where Linda says she can’t marry a poor man. Her advice is quite meddlesome and unnecessary, especially since she has a rather big log in her own eye regarding her past life as an [escort]. The Federal Government has given a 16-man committee two weeks to [come up with solutions] to the clashes between farmers and herdsmen. In Oyo State, salaries of political office holders have been [cut in half]. A lecturer in the University of Osun was caught on video having sex with one of his students, and has been [fired]. Training There is still time to register for a three-day lighting and photo-editing workshop organised by The Future Enterprise Support Scheme (TFESS). It starts November 14th. Find the details [here]. Thank you for reading, and don’t forget to share this newsletter if you like it. Have a great weekend!
