I was born on July 19th in Brisbane Australia in 1979. That means today is my birthday, despite currently living in Vancouver where it is still July 18th 🙂. As a reminder, the [50% birthday discount]() that I offered for this week only on membership into the [Laptop Lifestyle Academy]() ends in 24 hours. People keep asking me how does 45 feel. It does feel old, sort of like a half-way point in life. I do sometimes wonder why we as a species collectively all seem to die before 110. Why is that such a consistent number? Do we all die before then because we know everyone else did??? I can hear my longevity expert friends telling me 150, even 200 will be the new norm. Perhaps I should think of 45 as one third of the way through life in that case. Failure And Success I can now say having spent 25 years as an online entrepreneur, I've had the opportunity to both fail and succeed at many things. Failure seems to be a mandatory part of the process. I've lost count of the number of failed attempts at marketing and advertising. For example, today I spent $50 on a new ad on Twitter. The end result was over 60 clicks, but zero optins to my email list. This kind of result happens far more often than success. BUT, once you find something that works, and you keep refining it, improving, and building systems to support it, miracles can happen. For example, as I type this my company has just surpassed $100,000 in revenue right as we hit the 19th of the month, the quickest we have ever broken six figures in one month. We are on our way to reaching our next goal of becoming a multiple seven figure business. Yet, this week I've been quite frustrated too, because we've had just as many people cancel service as new people sign up, and a key new contractor handed in their resignation. The ups and downs never stop. Your Skill And Experience Always Improves What does continue through all of the ups and downs is your accumulation of new skills and experience. There's nothing like business to teach you things like emotional regulation! Not to mention skills like [copywriting](), [positioning an offer](=), [choosing a business model](=) and more. A few years ago I wrote this: [What I Learned From 10 Years Writing A Blog](=) It was my most popular blog post of that year. There was no way I could have written that without having lived the experience to share the lessons. This is what is so great about the internet. People are willing to condense what they learn into important lessons for those walking down the same path, but not quite as far along. Get All My Training For 50% Off - ENDS TODAY! I offer the [50% discount special on lifetime membership into the Laptop Lifestyle Academy]() only once a year on my birthday for several reasons... - I like making money on my birthday. I'm being blatantly honest here, but it's nice to get this gift from my audience. I especially enjoy selling my teaching programs because it gives you a sense of meaning that only writers and teachers enjoy. - I know I'm giving you far more value in return. It took me 20 years to learn and compile everything in all the training I put into the academy -- it's my life's work as an educator. - If you can take away just one idea or get motivated to finally build that business, you will reap far more money in return. I want that to happen to all my subscribers, but especially members of my Academy. There's only one day left in my birthday week, with Friday this week just happening to be my actual birthday. That means today is the LAST day. You can see everything you receive as a member and sign up here: [Join The Laptop Lifestyle Academy - 50% Discount]() I'll see you there!
