A New Man!
[Get Wyze Cam Pan v2]( Wyze Cam Pan v2 released last week to great reviews like [this one](. The new starlight-star-bright-first-thief-I-see-tonight sensor is the feature rightly getting all the love, but letâs not overlook the new mini siren. Who wants to check in from work and gently remind their tween through two-way audio that screen time is up when you can blast them out of their zombified trance instead? Alexa, Have You Checked the Children? You probably knew you could bark orders at your Wyze devices through Alexa, but did you also know you can bark orders at Alexa through some of your Wyze devices? Chat with Alexa anytime through your Wyze Buds, Wyze Buds Pro, Wyze Headphones, or Wyze Band. And, with Halloween just around the corner, ask Alexa to tell you a spooky story or Halloween joke, or answer your Halloween questions like, âHow many days until Halloween?â and âAre you going as Siri?â Terrifying! How We Spent Our Summer Vacation [The Future of Wyze is Coming (Part 2!)]( For those who missed it, here once again is our [recent recap from founder Dave Crosby of how Wyze weathered the pandemic](. Or, as itâs known in Canada, âExcuse Number 3,576,238.â In all seriousness, we hope the video sheds a little more light on the challenges Wyze has faced over the last year, and how weâre now getting Wyze back to being Wyze. [Watch Now]( Our Lawyers Told Us Not to Talk About This But Weâre Going to Anyway [Meet Sissi] If you watched the video, you may have noticed the brief mention of our recent legal adventures. For those curious, hereâs a rundown: Basically, a subsidiary of a gigantic 140-year-old security company sued little olâ us for patent infringement. What was the patent, you ask? Some special microchip? A sensor? No. It turns out this company essentially claims exclusive ownership of the very act of using cloud-connected cameras for security. Thatâs right. Because they definitely invented that. For the uninitiated, this is an example of a heinous practice known as âpatent trolling,â in which big bullies shake down little guys for cash to avoid a lawsuit. Whatâs more, we were picked on because they thought we were too small to fight back, and they could strut on up with a victory to take on heavy hitters like Amazon and Google for the big payday. Well, we did fight back! And, long story short, we kicked their heinies. Twice. (Youâre welcome, Amazon and Google!). In dismissing their appeal, the judge literally had to explain to the other company that people have been using things to watch other things since the first ancient civilization posted guards on the first city walls. To which they responded, âSeriously?â and then filed an immediate patent infringement lawsuit against the Assyrian Empire. Anyway, you can [read about it here](. AI Update [Meet Sissi] Our team of authentically intelligent artificial intelligence engineers continues to work around the clock toward big AI developments that will be coming soon. If youâd like to help us train our algorithms, weâd LOVE for you to submit more: - videos with audio of dogs barking, - video with babies in the frame, - and video with audio of babies crying. Definitely not exactly âA Normal Every Day Request from Your Friends at Wyze,â but we've got features to help parents of both furry and furless babies coming down the pipeline, and you'll be helping us build them. You can submit footage using the banner at the bottom of your Event videos. Also, another reminder that those interested can [sign up to help with Sound Detection testing](. [Sign Up to Test]( DI-Wyze of the Month [Meet Sissi]( Truly cool bird-watching footage came in this month from Reddit user, Shriekingeeel, who manually disassembled and reassembled his v3, with no change of lens, to give it a really shallow depth of field, then placed it in a bird feeder. Never has anyone voided their own warranty to such dazzling effect! Video of the Month Our video of the month comes to us from Instagram, [where user Catmandooâs nightly greeting ritual with his cat looks like something out of Swan Lake](. If you think that's an amazing display of adorable rigidity, you should see this little guy on charcuterie night.
