[Click here for your FREE special report.]( I look at many factors when deciding on an options trade. And the simple truth is that most stocks donât make the cut. But thereâs one factor â and itâs one that most traders donât talk about - that will derail a trade quicker than any other ⦠Liquidity. Liquidity refers to the ease of getting into and out of a trade at a favorable price. The midpoint price (the average between the bid and ask prices) is usually the best you can hope for, so I usually donât expect to get filled at the midpoint price. That means paying a penny or two more on a debit trade or accepting a penny or two less on a credit trade. But getting close to the midpoint isnât always that easy. The wider the bid/ask spread, the tougher it will be to get near the midpoint. This is especially true on the exit, when spreads tend to widen on out-of-the-money options. I donât know about you, but I donât like to accept too little or pay too much for my trades. Even a couple of pennies can add up. Now, giving up a penny or two on both sides of the trade may not sound like much. And it isnât that big a thing when youâre dealing with larger credits or debits. But consider, for example, a Starbucks (SBUX) trade I made last week, in which I collected a $0.36 credit on the open and paid a nickel to exit the next day. That worked out to an 18.9% return for a trade open less than 24 hours. But what if I had given up a measly two cents on each side? Thatâs not much, right? Youâd be surprised. If we entered at a $0.34 credit and exited for a $0.07 debit, the trade return drops to 16.3%. Thatâs a 14% reduction in your return. If you put $5,000 in that trade, the profit drops from $945 to $815. Say you make 50 trades a year. Thatâs a $6,500 difference. Maybe a couple of pennies matters after all. [Discover the NAMES and TICKERS of the top overnight trades for big profits.]( With that in mind, I looked at all companies reporting earnings for the rest of this week. I selected five that have the most liquid options that should allow you to get close to the midpoint price on both your entry and exit trades. But I went beyond just looking at the bid/ask spread widths. I also looked at open interest and volume numbers. Open interest refers to the number of contracts in force at the end of a trading day. I typically like to see at least 100 contracts in open interest. Volume is simply the number of contracts trading in a day. This of course depends on when youâre looking, so I usually use volume numbers in the afternoon. Again, I prefer to see volumes above 100 contracts. My analysis pulled up the five best stocks to trade earnings for the rest of the week. Here are my top five, along with when they report results: - Roblox (RBLX): Tuesday, Aug. 9 after the close
- The Trade Desk (TTD): Tuesday, Aug. 9 after the close
- Coinbase Global (COIN): Tuesday, Aug. 9 after the close
- Plug Power (PLUG): Tuesday, Aug. 9 after the close
- Walt Disney (DIS): Wednesday, Aug. 10 after the close Donât forget about liquidity in your trading. Nothing goes to your bottom line quicker â and easier â than good fills. Trade Wisely,
