Watching others hit accomplishments increases your belief that you can also be successful, but the trick is to find someone at a similar level. So if you want to run that 5K, find inspiration from a friend who jogs similar distancesânot one who runs marathons.

Is oatmeal good for you?

Unlike some other breakfast foods, oatmeal won't leave you counting down the minutes until lunchtimeâa good thing since nagging hunger can make it difficult to control your weight. That's because oats stimulate the release of cholecystokinin, a hormone in the gut that reduces appetite.
Your heart will get a boost
Research shows that men who regularly eat oats may be less likely to suffer a heart attack, partly because eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol while promoting better blood flow to the heart.
It's surprisingly versatile
While oatmeal is great for breakfast, it also works as a savory lunch or dinner. Try topping your bowl with sautéed veggies, like sliced mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, beans, or tomatoes, a sprinkle of low-fat shredded cheddar or Parmesan, and a dusting of finely chopped herbs.

How to pick âem
It's true: One bad apple can spoil the bunch. A damaged apple produces higher levels of ethylene, which causes other fruit around it to ripen faster. Handy if you want to ripen green bananas, but not so great for apples that are already ripe.
When buying, look for apples that are firm and shiny with a mild aroma and skip over ones with visible bruises or tears. If refrigerated immediately, apples will stay good for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
