Take action now! Make a difference in New York [View email as a webpage]( WWF logo [DONATE]( Dear {NAME}, Two crucial conservation bills are currently on Governor Hochul's desk, awaiting her signature—and we only have until the end of the year for them to be signed into law. The New York Tropical Deforestation-Free Procurement Act and the Birds and Bees Protection Act have already passed the NY Senate and Assembly, and we need your help to ensure they become law. Take both actions below and let Governor Hochul know why protecting New York's environment and future is important to you. [Amazon forest.]( New York Tropical Deforestation-Free Procurement Act: Leading the Fight Against Climate Change The New York Tropical Deforestation-Free Procurement Act passed both chambers earlier this year with strong bipartisan support. This groundbreaking bill aims to prevent the state of New York from purchasing products tied to rampant tropical deforestation, a leading driver of climate change. By leveraging its purchasing power, New York can become a climate leader. And as with so many aspects of fighting climate change, the benefits go far beyond the environment. This bill would let the state invest directly in its people and businesses, including small, minority-owned, and women-owned businesses. And it would bring huge economic benefits to New York's agricultural sector and rural counties, promoting local beef, timber, and soybeans, among other products. This bill is a win-win. It's good for New Yorkers today because it supports local economies. It's good for New Yorkers tomorrow as it fights against worsening climate change. [Join us in asking Governor Hochul to swiftly sign the New York Tropical Deforestation-Free Procurement Act into law.]( [Take Action ►]( [Close-up photo of a bee in a flower.]( Birds and Bees Protection Act: Protecting Pollinators and Ecosystems New York stands at the precipice of passing the Birds and Bees Protection Act—a monumental step toward safeguarding pollinators from the highly toxic pesticides known as neonics. These pesticides are commonly used on crops like corn, soybeans, and wheat, as well as ornamental plants, and pose a grave threat to insects, including essential pollinators like bees. Even more concerning, neonics can disrupt entire ecosystems, affecting birds, fish, and other wildlife. Earlier this year, the EPA identified neonics as a threat to over 200 endangered species. With the alarming decline in pollinator populations, this legislation represents a unique opportunity to protect bees, butterflies, and other vital species. However, there is concern that the governor's support for the bill is wavering. [Please urge Governor Hochul to take a stand for New York's pollinators by signing the Birds and Bees Protection Act before it is too late](.
