[Here’s a list of the best rainy day activities in the city.]( It’s Tuesday morning in New York City [where Mayor Eric Adams plans to bring back single-room occupancy housing.]( Last week, Adams unveiled an ambitious housing plan that included a proposal for rules that allow for new SRO housing, a type of dorm-style apartment complex where tenants have their own private studios but typically share kitchens and bathrooms. Some homeless rights advocates are on board with the idea, and say the model could provide an avenue out of shelters. But for other tenant organizers, SRO housing isn't progress, but a step back. Here’s what else is happening: - Thirty of the largest family shelters in the city will begin [providing mental health services on-site to occupants this month](. The shelters will have to identify and hire mental health professionals by July, with the remaining shelters following suit by 2025.

Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, the third suspect in the case, was arraigned in federal court yesterday on charges accusing him of conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death.
- Several permit applications that would allow street closures for events were [turned down by the NYPD’s 70th Precinct in Brooklyn this summer](. Officers from the precinct told Hell Gate it’s because the neighborhood is too “violent,” but one of the permit applications was simply for a community clean-up.
