It’s Thursday morning in New York City and we wanted to find out [whether congestion pricing is working in other cities.]( New York may be the first city in the United States to implement the practice, but congestion pricing is already in place around the globe, so Gothamist spoke with people from three cities that have congestion pricing to find out how it's going. Here’s what else is happening: - Police arrested more than a dozen people Wednesday night during a [rally against the opening of a tent shelter for migrants]( at the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center campus in Queens that just opened Tuesday. - One of the [people cops arrested]( was Curtis Sliwa, CEO of the Guardian Angels and former GOP mayoral candidate. - A nine-year-old boy was [found dead in the waters near a Brooklyn IKEA]( after going missing from the store Wednesday. - Several city-run TikTok accounts are no more after [NYC announced a ban on the app]( for government-issued devices. - In an email to staff Wednesday, Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway said he [plans to replace Chancellor Nancy Cantor]( the longtime head of the Newark campus, once her contract expires next June, but Halloway didn’t make clear why he’d be doing so. - A bill that would make broker fees the [responsibility of landlords rather than renters]( got support from a majority of the City Council, despite attempts from an influential real estate group to stop it. - After months of controversy and opposition from some local businesses, the city’s Department of Transportation will finally [move forward with a scaled-back set of street safety improvements]( to McGuinness Boulevard. - Prosecutors [charged a 29-year-old Virginia man with first-degree murder]( Wednesday for the fatal shooting of New Jersey Councilmember Eunice Dwumfour outside her home earlier this year. - After reports of NYPD car chases skyrocketing during the first half of the year, NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey [sent an internal memo to some top police officials]( telling them to ensure their officers are familiar with the department’s vehicle pursuit policies. - Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday a new mandate for Uber and Lyft vehicles that [requires them to be either electric or wheelchair accessible by 2030.]( - Researchers at NYU Langone Health put a pig kidney into a brain-dead man and [found it to work normally for more than a month]( an important step in figuring out how to use animal organs to save human lives. - Samuel Miele, a campaign aide who raised money for Rep.
