It’s Tuesday morning in New York City and Mayor Eric Adams has a [new $485 million plan to curb gun violence]( in the city. Last year, just six precincts in Brooklyn and the Bronx accounted for a quarter of the shootings in NYC, so funding will be prioritized at those locations, with help in the form of more support for teens who aren’t on track to graduate high school and upgrades to public housing, among other initiatives. Here’s what else is happening: - The Adams administration is hiring [a new head of housing for NYC]( a $210,000-a-year gig with a big responsibility of fixing the housing crisis. - The streets in front of Manhattan's Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown were lined with 150 migrants who’ve been shut out of the city’s central intake center, with some saying [they’ve waited as long as five days]( in order to register for help. - NYC Sanitation Department officials launched an [enforcement sweep of street vendors without permits]( at Corona Plaza in Queens, a popular destination for Latin food vendors. - Manhattan-bound 7, N and W trains have begun [bypassing the Queensboro Plaza subway station]( for two weeks as the MTA works on accessibility improvements at the station. - A flesh-eating animal sedative called “tranq” has [made its way into local cocaine supplies]( with an increasing number of unsuspecting users falling victim to its dangerous effects. - A Long Island woman is still pleading for the safe return of her epileptic dog who was stolen from her front yard more than a month ago. She’s [now offering a $10,000 reward]( for the pup’s return. - The [fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old man]( in Brooklyn Saturday night who was killed after an argument with a group of men that were allegedly upset over he and his friends “voguing” at a gas station, is being investigated as a hate crime. - A 63-year-old Long Island man was rescued Monday morning after [spending more than five hours treading water]( in the Atlantic Ocean. - Twitter’s new slogan is [“Blaze Your Glory,”]( whatever that means. - A new DoorDash pilot program kicking off this summer will [connect the company’s NYC delivery workers with free immigration legal clinics]( administered by the New York Legal Assistance Group. - What will NYC’s official wildflower be?
