Citi Bike is now available in every part of Manhattan. And Hoboken has gone three straight years without a traffic death. By James Ramsay [screenshot of Missy Elliott promoting a showtime dance to her song "Lose Control"] MIssy Elliott/Twitter New York City's post-pandemic rebound will undeniably be linked to the return of subway ridership, which is still down about 65% from pre-pandemic levels. But until the trains fill up again, the famed W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew should by all means feel free to spread out, stand on seats, bring in an elaborate cinematography set-up, and film performances like this one. Not much else to say â [just watch it, and watch it again]( PSA: The City's Best Elote Is Steps Away From The 7 Train Station In Jackson Heights Sisters-in-law Celeste and Lucy (who asked that we only use their first names) sell three things from their portable grill set-up: chicken kebab, beef kebab, and elote. The latter â a Mexican street corn, lathered in mayo and finished off with cotija cheese and chili power â is the best in the city, says Gothamist intern Afia Eama, who's been eating it for a decade. Celeste and Lucy arrived at their spot on Roosevelt Avenue in 2009, and since then, a robust clientele of mostly Mexican, Ecuadorian and Colombian New Yorkers has kept them going. After a dip in business because of the pandemic, they're starting to see more customers return, both from the neighborhood and around the city. And they have no plans to move. "We like what we do," said Celeste. "We do everything with love." The cart is out by the 82nd Street-Jackson Heights station seven days a week, usually from noon until sunset, and the elote is $3. The network includes 20,000 bikes overall, making it the world's second largest bike-share program, trailing only the system in Suzhou, China. ([New York Post]( A Brooklyn woman has raised over $100,000 to cover cab fare for Asian New Yorkers concerned about hate-driven attacks on mass transit. "Last week I took the train. It was a 30-minute commute and I realized every minute of that commute I was terrified," said Maddy Park, whose Instagram fundraiser is collecting cab money for Asian women and seniors. ([ABC7NY]( NJ Transit is getting 25 new dual-powered trains that can run on either diesel or electricity. Gov. Phil Murphy, who test drove one of the new German-made trains earlier this week, said that by being able to use electric power from overhead cables or an internal diesel engine, the locomotives will be more versatile in where they can run. ([NJ.com]( Hoboken hasn't recorded a traffic death in three years. By expanding the bike lane network, widening curbs near intersections, putting big reflective stripes on sidewalks, and shrinking the amount of street space for cars by 15 feet on some roadways, Hoboken has seen major drops in both car-on-car collisions and crashes where drivers hit cyclists or pedestrians. ([Streetsblog]( New York state's plan to renovate Penn Station to let in more natural light also involves building more tall buildings in the area, and transit advocates don't like it. A coalition of neighborhood groups and transportation advocates say they want a plan that doesn't turn the area around Penn Station into another Hudson Yards. ([THE CITY]( The MTA wants to incentivize private developers building near subway stations to install elevators themselves. Under the proposed deal, developers that build elevators would receive a 20% "density bonus" which would allow them to expand their allotted footprint or offset the costs of their project. This change to the city's zoning codes, which needs to be approved by the City Council, has been open for public review since Monday.
