{NAME}, your recent reward order -294998 22 nd December 2016 Dear Parents and C arer s Sports Hall B

{NAME}, your recent reward order -294998 22 nd December 2016 Dear Parents and C arer s Sports Hall Building P rogramme 2017 I am delighted to inform you that the sports hall construction will begin in January 2017. In addition , I would like advise you about the p ractical arrangements during this phase. Preparation for ground works on the west courts ( by Selborne Road ) will begin on Wednesday, 4 th January 201 7 and work will continue until the end of May. A safety fence will be in place to ensure that the work will be carried out with minimum disturbance to pupils and lessons. The B1 and B2 G eography classrooms (behind the courts area) will stay in use, with a new access via doors at the rear of the building. The fencing will give a clear division between the construction area and the school. Pupils who currently use the west court at break and lunchtime will be able to use the east courts and a range of indoor sports activities will be held in the school hall every lunchtime on a weekly rota for each year group . A dditional classrooms will also be open for pupils to use for different activities during the ir lunch break. The advantage of building at this time of year is that the construction companies , Doe Ltd and SMC2, will be able to utilise the February half - term as well as the Easter and May breaks and hopefully complete the construction by the end of May 2017. I am sure you will agree that this is a significant development for the school. Please d o not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or questions regarding the building of the sports hall via: balcg@archten.croydon.sch.uk Yours Sincerely School Business and Development Manager Nous vous rappelons vos identifiants de connexion : Sincerely, Nous vous remercions pour l’intérêt que vous portez à la marque Peugeot. This is the first time since 2011 that we have been able to have a school Mass at St Mary of the Angels which as a Marist Church has a long connection with our College. It will be a very special occasion. We expect the highest standards of behaviour from our students. It is a special honour to have the new Bishop of Christchurch, Paul Martin SM, DD as our main celebrant. Buses will transport the students into town at 12.45pm and the boys will be released home at the conclusio n of Mass between approximately 2.30 to 2.45pm. THURSDAY 15 March – Old Boys Association Mass in the Chapel at 5.30pm and AGM in the staffroom afterwards. GRANDPARENTS MORNING TEA FOR YEAR 9 PATRICIANS: The College, in partnership with the Foundation is hosting a Year 9 Grandparents’ Morning on Thursday 12 April from 9.30 to 11.30am. If you would like to attend please contact Louise McKenzie, Development Manager before 26 March on 939 5416 or email development@stpats.school.nz WCC PROPOSED CYCLEWAY OUTSIDE THE COLLEGE: We are concerned about the Council’s plans for a proposed cycleway directly outside the College on Evans Bay Parade. The College will be making a submission as the proposed cycleway will have a significant impact on the College. If you would like to see details and make your own submission you can do this online with your feedback due by 5pm, Monday 19 March. For more information please visit transportprojects.org.nz Three weeks ago I wrote a short note to parents about a serious altercation on our Turf at interval on 13 February involving a group of mainly senior students. I am pleased to say that the incident has been dealt with properly. A number of students faced serious disciplinary a ction. The Police have been involved. Last week we held a large restorative conference involving almost all the students and their families. Mr Gerard Tully, former Rector of both our College and St Patrick’s College Silverstream facilitated the confere nce. While the conference was difficult for everyone, it helped the students face up to the serious consequences of their actions and started to restore some of the damaged relationships. Our first responsibility at the College is to keep our students s afe. We will always do our best to manage student behaviour well, and will continue to expect high standards of behaviour from our young men. You will have heard the results from McEvedy Shield. We congratulate the Wellington College Athletics team on a fine win. There were some outstanding performances from our Athletes. We will recognise these students in Assembly next week. Student behaviour from some spectators was again a concern for all the schools involved and consequently we are reviewing how we will organise this event in the future. Kind regards Neal Swindells RECTOR 31 January 2018 Dear Parents / Caregivers, Welcome (back for year 8’s) to Dunedin North Intermediate! We have enjoyed our first day with your tamariki and hope that they come home full of beans also. Meet the Teacher: There will be an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher on Wednesday February 14, 5.30pm. This is a chance to hear about expectations, ask questions and learn a bit more about the DNI programme. In week 8 of term one we will hold individual interviews with parents and students. This gives us time to get to know your children and properly assess where they are at in terms of academic learning and self management. At this interview we will share a baseline report with you (where we believe your child is working in reading, writing and maths) and we’ll also use this time to set goals for the rest of the year. Partnership and Whanau Hui Good education requires a positive home/school partnership. For this reason we value time to meet with families in a range of formats throughout the year. There will be a partnership hui on Wednesday 14th following the meet the teacher night, commencing at 6.15pm in the staffroom. Usually we have a potluck meal that everyone contributes to, but on this occasion we’ll provide light refreshments. At this time our M a ori whanau may wish to break away and connect with each other? ? We would love some guidance from you around how and when you would like to meet as a group this year. We have a strong Pacific and M a ori Culture group and we always welcome support around this. School Hours School is open for students ? from 8.20am in the mornings ? . While there may well be staff here earlier than this we can not guarantee that your children will be supervised so we ask that you do not drop off children before 8.20am as the school will remain locked until this time. School finishes at 2.55pm. With the exception of children that wait for the north line bus (Waitati, Warrington, Karitane, Waikouaiti) we expect that all students leave school grounds by 3pm. Communication Expectations Communication with wh a nau is an essential aspect of good relationship building. The first port of call for any question you might have is always the classroom teacher and email is a good way to contact them. We expect our staff to acknowledge receipt of your email within 24 hrs (Monday to Friday) but generally teachers do not check email during the day as this gets in the way of their teaching duties. If your message is urgent, please phone the office. ICT Acceptable User Agreement Students will be welcome to use the internet AT DNI as soon as the attached User Agreement is signed. ?
