Can the government fix it? w/ economist Richard Duncan.]( Duncan is a long-time sparring partner of ours. We have both been concerned with bubbles in consumer credit, housing, the stock market and government debt. Richard is far more confident the government can address all of these issues. In fact, he advances a series of policy suggestions he thinks would directly address these bubbles. The question is: will anyone in Congress listen to his proposals? Mr. Duncan is the author of four books analyzing the causes and the effects of the economic crises that have brought the global economy to the brink of collapse during recent decades. His latest book The Money Revolution: How to Finance the Next American Century. The follows the evolution of money and credit over the last century showing in detail how the government, through errant policies, has become a serial bubble blower.  Richard has spoken to the World Economic Forum about his solution set on multiple occasions; mostly falling on narcissistic deaf ears. In this Session we covered, among other topics, the history of the Federal Reserve since 1913, how American âCapitalismâ gave way to our current "Creditism" and why it hurts regular people's savings, and the potential technologies of the future that will drive change to an ever-challenged American economy.
