Senator John Thune has a ridiculous reason for opposing Democrats' proposal for a $15/hour minimum wage: when he worked at a restaurant as a kid in South Dakota, he was able to get by on $6/hour.
Here's the thing, {NAME} -- $6 in the 1970s, when Thune was growing up, would amount to $24.07 today. That would be enough to earn the senator a nice living of $50,000 -- though that's still much less than Thune's current six-figure net worth.
GOP senators like Thune have no idea what life is like for everyday Americans like you -- and they can't see beyond their own interests even for a second. It checks out that Thune is one of the Fascist Fifteen Republican senators up for re-election in 2022 who voted to acquit Trump in his impeachment trial -- he clearly cares about pleasing Trump's base more than he cares about serving you and your community.
