[SET A REMINDER]( Food security in Gaza and the West Bank is deteriorating fast. Women, children and families are running out of food and water. More than one million people have been displaced by the conflict, supply chains are cut off and shops could run out of basic supplies within days. [A child in Gaza receives bread from WFP. ]( The U.N. World Food Programme distributes bread to people in Gaza impacted by the conflict. The U.N. World Food Programme immediately launched emergency operations in Gaza to provide families with urgently needed food assistance. Despite immense challenges, the U.N. World Food Programme has already provided food and cash to more than 522,000 people since the start of the current crisis. The U.N. World Food Programme has food supplies stockpiled close to the Gaza border. These can be dispatched as soon as border access is granted. The U.N. World Food Programme has 2 million pounds of food either at — or on the way to — the Egyptian border (Rafah). That's enough to feed 488,000 people for one week. The U.N. World Food Programme has worked in Gaza and the West Bank since 1991 and is committed to staying the course to help those in need.
