[View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( [DONATE]( {NAME}, The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is committed to four humanitarian principles: humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence. It is our duty to address human suffering, protect life and health and ensure respect for human beings. And not take sides in hostilities or engage in political, racial, religious or ideological controversies. The heartbreaking truth is that conflict is the number one driver of hunger. Conflict is devastating. It tears families apart, forces entire communities from their homes, destroys infrastructure and disrupts food production. It's a vicious force, and one that has pushed 139 million innocent civilians to the most extreme levels of hunger imaginable. The worst food crises in the world are driven almost entirely by conflict, which is why nearly 80% of the U.N. World Food Programme's budget is spent helping people in conflict-affected countries. The link between conflict and hunger is not only undeniable, it is persistent and deadly. The U.N. World Food Programme will continue to be at the forefront of meeting the most basic needs for civilians impacted by war and violence, even in the most difficult operating environments. From its long-standing work in Yemen, to the surge in food aid in Afghanistan over the past two years, to the agile response to the refugee crisis due to the coup in Sudan earlier this year, to assistance in feeding those in Gaza and the West Bank affected by the current conflict in the region, the U.N. World Food Programme staff take on the toughest of challenges to provide lifesaving food to women, children, and families caught in the crossfire of conflict. We do not take for granted that our work is only possible because of you. With gratitude, [Barron's signature] Barron Segar President and CEO World Food Program USA Our Future Begins With Food.
