See how our supporters made a difference. [View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( [DONATE]( An update on Pakistan... [A woman in Pakistan.]( Guddi, 35, sits in front of her flood-damaged home. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) delivered flood relief to all the families in her town. Past. In 2022, unprecedented monsoon rains claimed over a thousand lives, displaced 8 million people and caused over 30 billion dollars' worth of damage. The U.N. World Food Programme provided urgent assistance to people affected by the floods including food and cash assistance and specialized nutrition treatments. It also coordinated the wider logistics response to transport assistance into Pakistan. Present. The U.N. World Food Programme has supported over 3.8 million flood-affected people in need with food and cash assistance. The number of food-insecure people experiencing severe hunger in Pakistan has more than doubled since the floods last year, in part because the rain has not let up. This summer Pakistan has experienced above-average rainfall and had the second wettest June in 63 years. These torrential rains have resulted in more lives lost and widespread damage. Future. Despite contributing less than 1% of global greenhouse emissions annually, Pakistan ranks among the top 10 countries worldwide most affected by the climate crisis. Climate experts predict Pakistan will see devastating floods more often, along with periods of extreme heat and drought. We will continue to be there for communities to help them prepare for, recover from and build resilience to extreme weather events, thanks to your philanthropic efforts. We couldn't do this work without you.
