[World Food Program USA.]( [Image of woman farming with text, Help Address Hunger at Home and Abroad.]( The Farm Bill, which expires this September, is a critical tool for fighting hunger and malnutrition. Support the reauthorization of this important bill! [TAKE ACTION]( Hi {NAME}, The first set of Farm Bill programs were created in 1933, nearly 100 years ago, to help farmers during the Great Depression. Over the years, the Farm Bill expanded to include additional food and agricultural policies to support conservation, nutrition and international food assistance. Today, the Farm Bill is a bipartisan effort that benefits all Americans by ensuring low-cost access to food while supporting farmers and ranchers. The Farm Bill expires this September. We need your support to renew this critical piece of legislation. [Please act now and sign this letter to your Members of Congress.]( [TAKE ACTION]( The Farm Bill includes three major U.S. food aid programs that help the work of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP): 1) Food for Peace is an international food assistance program that sends American exports to countries facing emergencies like famine or conflict. Through Food for Peace, the U.N. World Food Programme receives American crops like rice, corn and wheat. 2) The McGovern-Dole program supports school meals programs around the world and has provided over 5.5 billion school meals since its inception in 2022. Through McGovern-Dole, the U.N. World Food Programme implements many of its school meals programs. 3) The Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust (BEHT) is money set aside by the U.S. government for food emergencies. Congress released all BEHT funds in 2022 in response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. The Farm Bill not only affects the agriculture and food sectors in the U.S., but also plays a significant role in ending hunger abroad. That's why, especially during this dire global hunger crisis, it's crucial that Congress reauthorizes the Farm Bill. [We need your help, {NAME}. Send a letter to your Members of Congress now urging them to support the reauthorization of this bill.]( [SIGN NOW]( Thank you for taking action to help fight hunger at home and abroad.
