Families are starving— rush emergency meals now. [View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( FAMINE CONDITIONS CONFIRMED IN NORTH DARFUR [RUSH FOOD TO SUDAN]( {NAME}, Yesterday morning, famine was confirmed in North Darfur in Sudan. Over 750,000 people face catastrophic hunger conditions, and many have already died from hunger. [Please send urgently needed food to Sudan today with a gift. No act of generosity is ever too small for those who go entire days without eating.]( [DONATE TO SUDAN]( Here's what we know so far about the situation in Sudan: - A formal famine declaration means people are already dying of hunger. This is the first time famine has ever been declared in Sudan. One in every two Sudanese struggles to find enough food to eat every day. - Roughly 54% of the country's population requires urgent humanitarian assistance, including food, agriculture and nutrition support. Babies and children are especially vulnerable to malnutrition and hunger. Without enough of the right nutrients, their physical and mental development could be permanently stunted. - Famine is human made. Almost 15 months of brutal war have destroyed Sudan's economy and forced millions of people from their homes. The conflict has also created the world's largest hunger crisis spanning Sudan, South Sudan and Chad. [DONATE TO SUDAN]( The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is responding. In June, 1.7 million people received food and cash assistance in Sudan, and now the U.N. World Food Programme is scaling up its emergency response as quickly as possible to save more lives. We are in a race against time to stop famine in its tracks, and we need your help. [In this rapidly unfolding crisis, we rely on the generosity of supporters like you to help deliver food as quickly as possible to people in danger of starvation. Help us save lives with an emergency gift to Sudan right now.]( Thank you for your compassionate support for people caught in these horrific circumstances. I'll keep you updated as I learn more.
