[Wegmans ]( [Start Shopping]( [discover a passion for food]( Sunday, October 2, 2022 [ ]( Braised Italian Beef Short Ribs Braising to Bring Big Flavor to the Table [ ] By Adam Michaels I don't know about you, but when I'm out to dinner and see short ribs on the menu, I know what I'm ordering. There's just something magical about fork-tender meat, cooked slowly until it simply melts in your mouth. It's an experience that's hard to beat. Because I'm not the only short ribs fan out there, Chef John Steinhoff and his team developed our [Braised Italian Beef Short Ribs]( recipe last fall. It's quickly become a customer favorite, and for good reason. It uses simple techniques to build incredible flavor. First, you sear the meat until perfectly browned, then you add Italian Classics Marinara Sauce and vegetables and braise low and slow to give the natural sugars time to caramelize. A few hours later, you have some of the most incredibly flavorful, fork-tender meat you've ever had. As delicious as this recipe is, it does take a bit of time to prep your veggies and brown the meat—time that not everyone has on a busy day. So, that got us thinking, "How can we offer the same flavors and tenderness of this great recipe without any of the prep work?" As the Category Merchant of Ready-to-Cook Meat, that's where my team and I come in. We worked with Chef John and our Culinary Innovation Center to turn his recipe into our newest Cook-in-Bag entree, and the result is incredible. The meat braises to perfection in our oven-safe packaging. All you have to do is peel off the label, place the bag on a baking sheet, and pop it in the oven. Whether you make this from scratch or go for our new Cook-in-Bag option, you're going to get the ultimate comfort food. Chef John might serve this at the center of the plate with polenta or some potatoes. I like to stretch it for my family of four by shredding the meat and tossing it with pasta—and I'm happy to report it's kid-approved! Our [Amore Mafaldine Pasta]( holds the sauce really well, or you can try our [Gluten Free Red Lentil Spaghetti]( for a gluten-free option. Add some broccoli or an Amore Caesar Salad and you've got a complete meal. If wine is on the menu tonight, I'd go with a nice red like [Under the Tuscan Sun](. Make sure you save this recipe to give it a try soon, or look for our new [Cook-in-Bag Italian-Style Beef Short Ribs]( in our Meat Department.
