We're continuing our tests and data from last week as we dig deeper into the recent Google business profile updates (previously Google my business). There's definitely a shift in the weight of various signals on the GMB listing now and not only are we seeing massive shifts in what Google considers relevant to the algorithm, but also a much quicker impact that these signals seem to have on SERPs when being updated. Last week's test we saw how simply adding the proper categories and services to your listing that you'll almost immediately start showing for those terms and related terms within 24 to 72 hours of the edits going live. We know our collecting data for all types of signals that we had tested last year that did not show any type of quantifiable movement on their own. So far the results are amazing! The truth is if you've been following the SEO strategies and services that we use at Web 2.0 Ranker, if you review some of these various terms that you're listing is targeting you may see the changes yourself. Today we want to specifically look at some reviews and how our old tests that didn't show any quantifiable movement for keyword-targeted reviews is all a sudden showing without any new variables to consider… The first thing we noticed is all types of listings that we had reviews on, started to show for longtail keywords they didn't previously. We have seen reviews move keywords that were not really optimized anywhere else on the listing. So we decided to return to our review keyword tests as well and going back to our test listing from last week, we added a review with some target terms for the new service we had just added. Here are the rankings prior to adding the review: We then added a review from the Maps app: We also have added some services to the MerchMart listing that aligned with the rankings we see being pushed from reviews… Next week we will see how having services supporting custom reviews & reviews supporting customer services, impacts rankings. One thing is for sure from our rankings, that reviews are creating relevance and putting listings in the SERPs based on the review content. Be sure to join us next week to review the results of our review/service tests. Until then… Happy Testing!
